Are you a fast player, a deep thinker, or something in between? “I am intuitive. So fast.”
What’s your favorite part of the club atmosphere on a typical night? “I like the huge variety of players. Different skill levels. Some casual players.”
What’s the most surprising or memorable interaction you’ve had at the club? “Going to the Oregon Open, and car pooling with other members to tournaments.”
What’s a chess milestone you’re proud of, big or small? “When I placed 3rd at Nationals Open for my section in Las Vegas, and only 14 at the time."
What does the future look like for you? “Right now, I am teaching private chess lessons for an online tutoring company. I would love to make master one day, but school and spiritual commitments may delay that.”
What advice would you give to someone starting out in chess? “Play lots of games and learn one opening. Some people starting out think they need to learn lots of openings, and they don’t.”
